The new coronavirus has infected more than 400000 Americans and killed nearly 15000 people in the country. Dr. Jerome Adams, an American surgeon, is at the forefront of the effort, trying to convey a message to the country to continue to distance itself from society and appropriate health conditions to "smooth the curve.". President Donald Trump nominated Adams as a surgeon. Adams served as governor Mike Pence, then the state health commissioner of Indiana. He is the fourth African American to hold the post.
