才貌双全的Shania Twain，在歌坛却是个典型的丑小鸭变天鹅例子了：她从小被生父抛弃，母亲带着她改嫁给印第安人，Shania也是在印第安文化中长大的；由于家境不济，少女时代就得和成年男人一样去当伐木工人；屋漏偏遭连夜雨，母亲与继父又因车祸双双丧生，她还必须扶养兄妹成长；但就算如此她已然没有放弃自己对音乐如本能般的喜好，在餐厅打工之余，还拼命找机会卖唱。
